I know I've been inactive for a very long time this year. I've not had a very good six months. Anyone following me on twitter will know that my father passed away in April and since then, I've had to take time away from art to help my mother with a lot of stuff. It's been incredibly tough because art helps me vent during hard times, and I couldn't do it this time. In all that time, I had to close off comms, but now that I finally have time to draw again, I am now re-opening comms. I've also adjusted my comms sheet to mark the occasion.

I have made a few drawings in the past few weeks as I got back into the swing of things too. This is a follow-up to my post on the EARN IT act, which as of this writing has not gone through a vote in the Senate or House in the US yet, but it's still there.

Another initiative has been brought up in Congress which, unlike Earn It, seeks to actually help for once. The SAFE SEX Workers Study Act is a means to look into the actual damaging effects to sex workers (Meaning camgirls/boys, for example) caused by another law passed a few years ago called SESTA/FOSTA. This is meant to show how much worse it's gotten for innocent workers rather than actual sexual predators since SESTA/FOSTA and how much worse a law like EARN IT could make things. It will help with the decriminalization of sex work and help reverse the demonization of sex in general.

It might not be immediately apparent, but sex workers and hentai artists are in the same boat. When one suffers, it's bad news for the other. EARN IT is designed to completely erase any and all NSFW from the internet and LGBT+ communities and sex education sources will be caught in the crossfire. You don't want that. Even if you don't follow any sex workers who aren't artists, the entire community is counting on the SAFE SEX Workers Study Act. That's why I encourage the US citizens among you to contact your senators and urge them to support that instead of EARN IT.

I can't force you to act even if I wanted to, but I really hope you will at least consider it if you truly enjoy anything NSFW. Remember, the First Amendment cannot stop a law like EARN IT from being enforced because it's not stopping SESTA/FOSTA. If it were that simple, laws wouldn't have needed to be made in the 90's to prevent this very thing from happening online.

Plus, when EARN IT is gone, I can finally stop talking about it, so there you go.

I don't wanna alarm people, but I, nay, the entire internet requires you to pay attention to the EARN IT Act being fastracked through Congress later this week.

To summarize, EARN IT will outlaw all forms of encryption and force US tech companies to manually scan everything we say and share online. It WILL be used against us and silence anything even remotely sex-related, including sex education or LGBT issues. Most companies won't even have the kind of money needed to do that or handle lawsuits over anything anyone says or shares on their platforms, so many will simply stop allowing people to share anything. The entire point of social media and file sharing sites will be shattered.

If you live in the USA, you have to contact your senators right away and persuade them to vote no on, and publicly denounce, the EARN IT Act and to preserve and protect Section 230 at all costs. Call 202-224-3121 and ask to speak to your state's senators. Make sure you email them too. Please share this info around and let others know to do the same. (Don't be overbearing of course. I understand why you'd feel like you have to, but you don't want to sound like you're fearmongering.)

Even if you don't live in the USA, this WILL hurt you too because many internet companies, including Newgrounds, are based in the US. You'll need to share this too. Help us help you.

When you do share, use #StopTheEARNITAct2022 and help it build traction.

I know this sounds too scary to be true, and I wish I could say it is. If you really love the NSFW community especially, do not leave this to chance. Please.

So, if you've been following me, you probably noticed that 9 times out of 10, I post NSFW art on this page. Originally the plan was to post SFW AND NSFW, but since I ended up doing a lot more NSFW than I expected, I'm gonna rebrand this page soon as "Elk-Rotic" and make a seperate page for SFW art. That way, it'll be easier for me to share my art with people who aren't into NSFW. I'll be doing this with all my pages soon, except for my Inkbunny page, which is already focused on NSFW as that website is heavily geared towards that.
